Logo Design Checklist for Small Businesses in Hisar

A practical, step-by-step logo checklist for shops, clinics, schools and startups in Hisar and Haryana: brief, concepts, colours, files and where the logo will live.

Brand identity concept with a logo, business cards and stationery

A logo is often the first thing a customer in Hisar sees: on the shop board in a busy market, on a WhatsApp display picture, on a delivery bag or at the top of an Instagram page. A clear logo makes a small business look established. A blurry, hard-to-read one quietly sends customers elsewhere.

This checklist walks you through the whole process, from the brief to the final files, so you know what to ask for and what you should receive, whoever designs your logo.

1. Write a short brief before anything else

You do not need a long document. Answer these questions in a few lines:

  • What is the exact business name, and is there a tagline?
  • What do you sell, and who are your main customers?
  • Which three words should people feel when they see your brand: trusted, modern, premium, friendly, local?
  • Which local or national brands do you like, and which do you want to look different from?
  • Do you need the name in Hindi, English or both?

A good brief saves days of back-and-forth and gives the designer a clear target.

2. List every place the logo will live

A logo that looks good on a laptop can fail on a shop board seen from across the road, or as a tiny circle on WhatsApp. Make a list: signboard, visiting cards, letterhead, bills, packaging, stickers, uniforms, Instagram and Facebook profile pictures, Google Maps listing, website and vehicle branding. Your designer should test the logo at the smallest and largest sizes you need.

3. Keep it simple and readable

  • One idea. The strongest logos use one shape or one well-styled name, not five symbols at once.
  • Readable fonts. Decorative fonts look nice up close but disappear on a signboard. The name should read clearly at a glance.
  • Works in one colour. Check that the logo still works in plain black and plain white for stamps, printing on bills and engraving.
  • Square-friendly. Social media crops profile pictures into circles, so ask for a compact version or icon that fits.

4. Choose colours with a reason

Pick two or three colours that suit your business and stand out from the shops around you. Healthcare often uses calm blues and greens; food businesses often use warm reds, oranges and yellows; premium brands often use black, gold or deep tones. These are habits, not rules. Ask your designer to give you the exact colour codes (HEX for screens, CMYK for print) so the printer and the social media designer use the same shades.

5. Review concepts the right way

When you receive two or three concepts, look at each one on a mock-up of your real signboard and phone screen, not only on a white page. Show them to a few customers, not only to family. Give feedback as one clear list, for example: "Concept 2, but make the name bigger and try the blue from concept 1." That gets you to the final version faster than many small messages.

6. Make sure you receive the right files

This is where many small businesses lose out. Ask for these before the project ends:

  • Vector files (AI, SVG or PDF) that can be enlarged to any size for flex boards and hoardings.
  • PNG files with a transparent background, for WhatsApp, Instagram and documents.
  • JPG files for quick sharing.
  • Colour and font details, ideally in a one-page brand guide.
  • Versions: full logo, compact icon, horizontal and stacked layouts, and one-colour versions.

Store the files in Google Drive and share the folder with your printer, so you never have to ask the designer again for "that logo file".

7. Use it everywhere, consistently

A logo builds recognition only when it appears the same way every time. Update your shop board, Google Maps listing, WhatsApp Business profile, social media pages and bills together. Use the same colours in your festival posts and offers so people know it is you before they read a word.

8. Check the name before you print

Before printing hundreds of boards and cards, search online to make sure no other business in your field uses a very similar name or logo. For extra protection, talk to a trademark professional about registering your brand.
