How it works
How to use the image compressor
Most phone photos and exported designs are 3–10 MB, far bigger than WhatsApp, websites or client portals need. Re-saving as JPG at 70–80% quality usually cuts the size by 60–90% with no visible difference on screen. WebP is often 25–35% smaller again and works in every modern browser.
Setting a max width helps most: a 4000 px photo resized to 1920 px is about a quarter of the pixels. Everything is processed with your browser's canvas, so your files never leave your device. Note that compressing removes EXIF data such as camera details and location.
- Choose one or more images.
- Pick JPG or WebP and set the quality (75% is a good start).
- Optionally set a max width, such as 1920.
- Press Compress images and download each file or all.
FAQ
Questions about this tool
Are my images uploaded?
No. Compression runs in your browser with the canvas API; nothing is sent to any server.
What quality should I use?
70–80% for photos is usually indistinguishable on screen. Use 85–90% for print proofs or images with fine text.
Why did a file get bigger?
Already-compressed or simple PNG graphics can grow when re-saved as JPG. Lower the quality, keep the original, or use WebP.
How do I compress to under 100 KB or 200 KB?
Set a max width (1200 px is common for forms) and lower the quality until the size shown is under the limit.
