How to use the favicon generator
A favicon is the small icon in browser tabs, bookmarks and Google mobile results. Browsers and phones ask for different sizes: 16 and 32 px for tabs, 48 px for Google Search and the favicon.ico file, 180 px for iPhone home screens (apple-touch-icon) and 192/512 px for Android and installable web apps. This tool draws all of them from one design and gives you the HTML to paste into your site's <head>.
Small sizes need a simple, bold mark: one or two letters or a symbol read far better at 16 px than a full logo with a tagline. Keep some padding, use strong contrast between the mark and the background, and check the 16×16 preview. The favicon.ico contains 16, 32 and 48 px PNGs, which every current browser supports. Upload the files to your site's root folder.

Questions about this tool
What favicon sizes do I need?
favicon.ico (16/32/48 px inside), 32×32 and 16×16 PNGs, a 180×180 apple-touch-icon for iPhone, and 192×192 and 512×512 for Android and the web manifest. This tool makes all of them.
Why doesn't Google show my new favicon?
Google re-crawls favicons on its own schedule, often days to weeks. Make sure it is at least 48×48 px, linked in the <head> and not blocked by robots.txt.
Can I use an emoji as a favicon?
Yes. Choose Text/emoji, type the emoji and the Emoji font. It is drawn as an image, so it looks the same on every device.
Is my logo uploaded?
No. Everything is drawn with your browser's canvas and downloaded straight to your device.
