How it works
How to use the receipt maker
A receipt is written proof that you received money. It protects both sides: the customer can show they paid, and you have a record for your books. A clear receipt shows your business name and contact, a receipt number and date, who paid, how much (in figures and in words), the payment mode and reference such as a UPI transaction ID or cheque number, what the payment was for, and a signature.
Type the amount and the receipt writes it out in Indian words automatically, for example “Rupees Twelve Thousand Five Hundred Only”. You can also list items if the receipt covers several things, and the total updates. Use it for advance payments, rent, tuition fees, event bookings or any small sale.
Receipts are not GST tax invoices. If you are GST-registered and making a taxable sale, issue a tax invoice with the invoice generator as well. Your draft is stored only in this browser.

FAQ
Questions about this tool
Is a receipt the same as an invoice?
No. A receipt confirms payment received; an invoice requests payment. GST-registered sellers still need tax invoices for taxable sales.
Can I make a receipt for a UPI payment?
Yes. Choose UPI and paste the UPI transaction ID or UTR in the reference field.
How is the amount written in words?
In the Indian system (lakh, crore) with paise, for example Rupees One Lakh Five Thousand and Fifty Paise Only.
Do I need a revenue stamp?
Rules on revenue stamps for cash receipts depend on the amount and your state's stamp law. Check locally if unsure.
