How it works

How to use the ctc to in-hand salary

Cost to company (CTC) is everything your employer spends on you in a year, including parts you never receive in your bank account each month, such as the employer's PF contribution and gratuity provision. In-hand salary is what's left after those, your own PF contribution, professional tax and income tax.

This calculator assumes basic pay is a share of CTC (50% by default), employer and employee PF at 12% of basic (optionally capped at ₹15,000 basic per month), and the new tax regime for FY 2026-27, which Budget 2026 kept unchanged: nil tax up to ₹4 lakh, then 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% and 30% bands, a ₹75,000 standard deduction for salaried people, a Section 87A rebate that makes taxable income up to ₹12 lakh tax-free (with marginal relief just above it) and 4% health and education cess.

Professional tax varies by state (Haryana has none), so enter your own figure. Variable pay, HRA, NPS, old-regime deductions and surcharge details beyond the basics are not modelled, so check your payslip and Form 16 or ask your CA.

  1. Enter your annual CTC.
  2. Set basic pay as a percentage of CTC.
  3. Tick what's included in your CTC and add professional tax.
  4. Read monthly in-hand and the tax breakdown.

FAQ

Questions about this tool

Is salary up to ₹12 lakh tax-free?

Under the new regime, taxable income up to ₹12 lakh has no tax after the Section 87A rebate. With the ₹75,000 standard deduction, that's about ₹12.75 lakh of salary.

Why is in-hand lower than CTC ÷ 12?

CTC includes employer PF and gratuity, and your own PF, professional tax and income tax are deducted from gross pay.

Does this include the old tax regime?

No. It uses the new regime, which is the default. Old-regime deductions like 80C and HRA aren't modelled.

Is this exact?

No. It's an estimate. Your employer's salary structure and payroll rules decide the final figure.
